Mumbai

(Here's my personal tribute to the city which has been my home for the last year and a half, and has given me more food for thought than any other place on Earth could ever do. )

Aatte ki yeh chakki hai,
gehoon ka sa pisna hai,
Tandoor pe pakna hai,
Paani se nigalna hai...

Bin baat ka hansna hai,
bin baat ka rona hai,
Sholon pe se chalna hai,
footpath pe sona hai...

Har raat niraali hai,
har din yahaan kaala hai,
behta hai toh aansoo hai,
pee jaao toh haala hai...

Hai jeet, toh khuda tu,
hai haar - begaana hai,
himmat hai toh aa jaana,
yeh shehar deewaana hai...
